Diabetes

Diabetes is a disease that occurs when the body doesn’t produce any or enough insulin which is required to convert sugars in the blood into energy for our cells, leading to an excess of blood glucose (aka blood sugar) in the body. There are different types of diabetes: Type 1, Type 2 and gestational diabetes.

Fructooligasaccharide(FOS)

Fructooligosaccharides(FOS) are soluble dietary fibrewith calorie free and non-cariogenic.

FOS have important beneficial physiological effects such as low carcinogenicity, a prebiotic effect, improved mineral absorption and decreased levels of serum cholesterol and triacylglycerols.

Gestational Diabetes

Gestational diabetes is a type of diabetes that affects pregnant women, usually during the second or third trimester.

Glycemic Index

Glycemic Index (GI) is a measurement carried out on carbohydrate-containing foods and their impact on our
blood sugar.

Type 1 Diabetes

Type 1 diabetes can develop at any age, although it mostly occurs in children and teenagers. This is an auto-immune disease where the body's immune system attacks the insulin-producing cells of the pancreas. People with type 1 diabetes cannot produce insulin and require lifelong insulin replacement for survival.

Type 2 Diabetes

Type 2 diabetes is associated with poor diet, insufficient physical activity and being overweight or obese. Fortunately, people can manage this condition through lifestyle changes; however, diabetes medications or insulin replacement may also be required to control blood
sugar levels.
